Abstract

Performance art, with its ephemeral and embodied nature, offers a powerful tool for deconstructing historical narratives and challenging dominant interpretations of the past. By engaging with the body as a site of memory and resistance, performance artists can create counter-narratives that expose the biases and omissions within official histories, give voice to marginalized voices, and explore the complexities of power dynamics and social injustice. This article examines the role of performance art in deconstructing historical myths, focusing on its ability to reframe our understanding of the past and contribute to a more inclusive and critical interpretation of history.
